Report settings in SDL Studio Trados 2019

This is the newest guide from SDL about Report settings in SDL Studio Trados 2019, that help you to use SDL Studio Trados 2019 easier.

Report settings control the project and file information users can consult.

Analyze Files report settings

You can specify these settings on the following pages: Analyze Files, Search and Penalties.

Option Description
Report Cross-file Repetitions This counts segments that are duplicates of segments in a different file being analyzed in the same task. If this is set to No, cross-file repetition counts are not included in the report. The number of repetitions (identical segments that occur more than once) in each file is counted by default in a separate repetitions count.

See Report Cross-file Repetitions for more details.

Report Internal Fuzzy Match Analysis This shows if internal fuzzy matches were included in the analysis process. This means it calculates the maximum additional leverage that can be obtained by the translator interactively translating the file with a translation memory (TM).

See Report Internal Fuzzy Match Analysis for more details.

Minimum Match Score This shows the minimum acceptable degree of similarity between the text in the source segments and the text found in the TM using fuzzy match search techniques. The higher the value, the more similar the terms.
Search Mode This shows you the method used to find these matches. For example, the report takes the best match from all TMs used.
Missing Formatting Penalty This shows the cases where formatting is completely missing in the target segment as a percentage.
Different Formatting Penalty This shows the cases where formatting is different in the target segment, shown as a percentage.
Multiple Translations Penalty This shows the cases where multiple translations exist in the target segment for the same original text in the source, shown as a percentage.
Auto-Localization Penalty This shows the cases where certain translation specifics have not been taken into account, shown as a percentage. For example, in the event that US English date rules have not been observed in a translation.
Text Replacement Penalty This shows cases where text has been replaced that should not be translated, shown as a percentage.

Pre-Translate report settings

You can specify these settings on the following pages: Pre-translate Files, Search and Penalties.

Option Description

Search Mode This shows you the method used to find these matches. For example, the report takes the best match from all TMs used.
Missing Formatting Penalty This shows the cases where formatting is completely missing in the target segment as a percentage.
Different Formatting Penalty This shows the cases where formatting is different in the target segment, shown as a percentage.
Multiple Translations Penalty This shows the cases where multiple translations exist in the target segment for the same original text in the source, shown as a percentage.
Auto-Localization Penalty This shows the cases where certain translation specifics have not been taken into account, shown as a percentage, for example, in the event that US English date rules have not been observed in a translation.
Text Replacement Penalty This shows cases where text has been replaced that should not be translated, shown as a percentage.
After Apply Translations This shows what settings were defined during pre-translation:

Confirm 100% Matches – When this option is selected, 100% TM matches are automatically confirmed.

Lock 100% Matches – When this option is selected, if the TM match found for the segment is a 100% match, the segment is automatically locked so that it cannot be edited during translation.

Confirm Context Matches – When this option is selected, if the TM match found for the segment is a context match, the segment is automatically confirmed.

Lock Context Matches – When this option is selected, if the TM match found for the segment is a context match, the segment is automatically locked so that it cannot be edited during translation.

Apply PerfectMatch report settings

You can specify these settings on the SDL PerfectMatch page in the New Project wizard or Batch Processing wizard.

Option Description
Mode When applying PerfectMatch you can choose one of the following modes:

  • Apply PerfectMatch and lock
  • Use the original translation origin and status

Update Main/Project Translation Memories report settings

You can specify these settings on the Translation Memory Updates page.

Option Description
Always Add as New Translation When this option is selected, translations that have the statuses below are added as a new translation unit (TU) to the TM instead of updating existing TUs in the TM.
Segments Updated to TMs These are the statuses that a segment must have in order for the translation to be placed in the TM.
  • Work in progress (WIP) report settings
Use the Batch Processing > WIP Report settings to choose what the Work in Progress report will show as required type of work.
