Nowadays, file preparation is considered an important role as CAT tools are popularly used in Translation and Localization sector.
There are 2 cases of source file during preparation process for translation
1. Source Files for Document Translation
Documentation source formats for language translation can include different types of files such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, InDesign, Illustrator, FrameMaker, Photoshop, etc.
In this case, file preparation aims to create the best source file in order to use in CAT tools.
There are some special types of files which can not be imported to CAT tools and need to be changed into other suitable format with CAT tools’ requirement. Typical examples are:
- Indesign, needed to export to .idml file
